Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

BOSTON, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Free-agent reliever Bobby Jenks officially became a Boston Red Sox Tuesday, the American League club announced.
Boston will have the hard-throwing right-hander in its bullpen for two years for a reported $12 million.
Jenks, 29, went 14-18 with a 3.40 earned run average and 173 saves in six seasons with the Chicago White Sox, who didn't make him an offer. The Chisox instead signed Jesse Crain, another 29-year-old reliever who will get $4 million in 2011 and $4.5 million in each of the next two years.
