TAMPA, Fla., Dec. 19 (UPI) -- Dave Rayner's 34-yard field goal with 9:51 left in overtime Sunday boosted the Detroit Lions to their first road win in 26 games, a 23-20 win over Tampa Bay.
Rayner's winning kick came after Maurice Morris rushed four times for 35 yards in the overtime, capping a 109-yard performance for the game.
Rayner was also instrumental in getting the contest into the extra frame, booting a game-tying, 28-yard field goal as regulation time expired.
Drew Stanton completed 23-of-37 passes for 252 yards and a touchdown for the Lions (4-10), who snapped their NFL-record road losing streak and notched back-to-back wins for the first time since 2007.
The Buccaneers (8-6) appeared to have the win wrapped up when Josh Freeman led a fourth-quarter drive to set up Connor Barth's 26-yard field goal with 1:39 left.
Instead, Tampa Bay now will need help from other teams to gain a wild card spot in the NFC playoffs.
