TAMPA, Fla., Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Simon Gagne and Steven Stamkos collected second-period goals Saturday, fueling the Tampa Bay Lightning's 3-1 victory over Buffalo.

Gagne's power-play goal 12:16 into the middle frame broke a scoreless tie and Stamkos got his 25th of the season 6 minutes later.

Martin St. Louis assisted on both scores and added an empty-netter to back Mike Smith's 22 saves on 23 shots for the Lightning, who have earned at least one point in six straight home games.

Jason Pominville got the Sabres' only goal and Ryan Miller stopped 34 shots as Buffalo lost for the third time in four games.
