AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 17 (UPI) -- Blake Griffin had his 14th straight double-double Friday and the Los Angeles Clippers won their first road game of the season by downing Detroit 109-88.
The Clippers had lost their first 11 games away from home this season and had dropped 15 in a row dating back to last season. The Washington Wizards are the only NBA team left without a road triumph in the 2010-11 campaign.
Griffin scored 24 points and had 17 rebounds. He helped the Clippers go on a 14-point run in the third period that broke the game open. The surge started with Los Angeles holding a three-point lead.
Ryan Gomes added 18 points for Los Angeles and Eric Gordon had 15. A 3-pointer by Gomes capped the key third-period outburst.
Detroit was led by 18 points and nine rebounds from Charlie Villanueva. The Pistons have dropped five out of six.
