UNIONDALE, N.Y., Dec. 16 (UPI) -- P.A. Parenteau began a run of three goals in the span of 1:39 late in the first period Thursday that vaulted the New York Islanders to a 3-2 win over Anaheim.
The Islanders won for just the second time in 22 games, holding on after taking a 3-0 lead through one period.
With Andy Sutton in the penalty box for boarding, Parenteau scored with 4:54 to play in the opening stanza. Blake Comeau tallied on a slapshot 28 seconds later and Matt Moulson completed the outburst with his 11th goal of the season that came with 3:15 remaining.
Rick DiPietro made the lead stand up, eventually stopping 30 shots. He has been the winning goaltender in four of New York's six victories this season.
Joffrey Lupul scored on the power midway through the second period and Jason Blake brought Anaheim within one 90 seconds into the third period.
The Ducks had a three-game winning streak snapped in the second outing of a seven-game road trip.
Curtis McElhinney started in goal for Anaheim and allowed three scores on 12 shots before being replaced by regular netminder Jonas Hiller.
