NHL: Colorado 4, Chicago 3

CHICAGO, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Tomas Fleischmann took three shots Wednesday and scored on all of them in boosting the Colorado Avalanche to a 4-3 win over Chicago.

It was the first hat trick in Fleischmann's six-year career. He was obtained by Colorado from Washington in late November and has five goals and five assists in seven games since then.

All of Fleischmann's goals came in the third period, which began with the teams tied 1-1. After he produced two power-play goals 1:56 apart, Jonathan Toews scored for the Blackhawks to bring them within one.

Fleischmann restored a two-goal lead with 5:18 remaining, allowing Colorado to withstand Troy Brouwer's goal in the final 2 seconds.

Colorado swept a home-and-home series with Chicago, having posted a 7-5 victory Monday in Denver.

Craig Anderson won his fourth straight start by making 35 saves.

Chicago, which has dropped three straight, saw Corey Crawford allow four goals on 23 shots.
