COLUMBIA, Mo., Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Missouri starting point guard Michael Dixon was suspended indefinitely Thursday for violation of team rules, the school said Thursday.

Dixon's suspension begins Thursday when the 12th-ranked Tigers play Oral Roberts. Freshman guard Phil Pressey is expected to be inserted into the starting lineup in place of Dixon.

"We have high standards for how we expect our young men to carry themselves," Missouri Coach Mike Anderson said in a statement from the school. "Michael didn't meet those standards, therefore he is suspended indefinitely."

Anderson didn't say what infraction Dixon is accused of.

Dixon, a sophomore, has averaged 10.7 points and 2.4 steals while leading the Tigers with 4.3 assists per game this season.
