
COLUMBIA, Mo., Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Laurence Bowers led Missouri on a big run late in the first half Thursday and the 12th-ranked Tigers went on to defeat Oral Roberts 81-62.
Missouri held the Golden Eagles to 13 field goals for the game. Oral Roberts shot just 26 percent from the field, but made 32-of-38 attempts from the foul line.
Bowers scored 17 points and Marcus Denmon had 16 for the Tigers (9-1). It was the 53rd straight win at home for Missouri against teams from outside the Big 12 Conference, the longest such streak in school history.
The Tigers have won four straight since their only loss of the season, a 111-102 setback against Georgetown.
Oral Roberts had a three-point lead with 7:20 to go in the opening half before Missouri closed the period on a 20-4 run.
Dominique Morrison scored 18 points for Oral Roberts (4-6).
