Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

DENVER, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- The Colorado Rockies said Wednesday they have signed free-agent infielder Ty Wigginton to a two-year contract.
The Rockies didn't reveal the terms of the deal, but did say the contract includes a team option for a third year.
Playing last year for Baltimore, Wigginton was used at first, second and third base and was named to the All-Star team for the first time as the Orioles' only representative, hitting .248 with 22 home runs and 76 RBI in 154 games.
Wigginton, 33, is expected to back up current Colorado infielders Todd Helton and Ian Stewart and see time in the outfield as well.
