Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

WASHINGTON, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- A goal by Ryan Getzlaf with 57 seconds remaining in overtime Wednesday gave the Anaheim Ducks a 2-1 victory and handed Washington its seventh straight loss.
Corey Perry sent a pass to Getzlaf in the left circle and he fired a wrist shot that sailed into the top of the net over Semyon Varlamov.
Brooks Laich scored for Washington in the opening period and Joffrey Lupul tied it in the second for Anaheim.
Jonas Hiller had 31 saves for the Ducks, who won their third in a row in the opener of a seven-game road trip. Varlamov stopped 22 shots.
