HOUSTON, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- The Houston Rockets have acquired Terrance Williams from New Jersey as part of a three-way deal involving the LA Lakers, the Houston Chronicle reported Tuesday.
The newspaper, citing a person with knowledge of the trade, said Williams, a small forward known for offense, will go from the Nets to the Rockets for a 2012 first-round draft choice.
As part of the deal, the Nets will trade Joe Smith to the Lakers for guard Sasha Vujacic, the newspaper said.
The Rockets are shopping guard Jermaine Taylor to create room for Williams, the Chronicle reported.
Williams is a former first-round draft choice out of Louisville who is coping with a subpar season, averaging only 6.7 points in 10 games with the Nets.
He was demoted to the NBA's developmental league after repeatedly showing up late to practices, the newspaper said.
