SAINT MORITZ, Switzerland, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Tessa Worley of France nipped surging Finn Tanja Poutianen by one 100th of a second Sunday to win the women's World Cup giant slalom event at St. Moritz Sunday.
Worley won her second consecutive giant slalom with a two-run time of 2 minutes, 10.70 seconds to Poutianen's 2:10.71 and third-place Tina Maze of Slovenia's 2:11.01.
The second-place finish for Poutianen extended her streak of podium performances that included thirds in the previous two World Cup slalom events. "The one-hundredth of a second that separated me from victory is rather annoying, but I skied a good race and I'm satisfied," she said.
Germany's two star GS skiers, Kathrin Hoelzl and Viktoria Rebensburg, were hit by mistakes in the second run, which was delayed for an hour by high winds, and finished back in the pack.
Lindsey Vonn and Julie Mancuso of the United States placed seventh and eighth.
