NHL: Detroit 4, New Jersey 1

NEWARK, N.J., Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Tomas Holmstrom scored 29 seconds into the game and the Detroit Red Wings never trailed in their 4-1 victory over New Jersey Saturday.

Pavel Datsyuk scored a goal and added two assists, and Henrik Zetterberg and Dan Cleary also found the net as the Red Wings won for only the second time in 10 games at New Jersey.

Chris Osgood turned aside 33 shots for the victors.

The Devils, meanwhile, dropped their fifth straight. Patrik Elias got their lone goal and Martin Brodeur made 19 saves.
