LEXINGTON, Ky., Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Terrence Jones bounced back from a sub-par effort to score 27 points Wednesday and No. 16 Kentucky pulled away to defeat 23rd-ranked Notre Dame 72-58.

The Fighting Irish battled the Wildcats to a 40-40 halftime tie and were still within five points with 4 minutes to go. Kentucky then closed the game on a 12-3 run.

Jones had 17 rebounds while hitting 9-of-18 shots from the field. The freshman had made just 3-of-17 in Kentucky's loss to North Carolina last Saturday.

Brandon Knight added 20 points for Kentucky (6-2), which held Notre Dame to 18 points over the final 20 minutes.

Notre Dame (8-1) was led by Ben Hansbrough with 21 points.
