COL BKB: Syracuse 72, Michigan State 58

NEW YORK, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Scoop Jardine scored 19 points and No. 7 Syracuse remained undefeated Tuesday with a 72-58 win over No. 8 Michigan State in the Jimmy V Classic in New York.

Jardine was 7-of-9 shooting and Rick Jackson had 17 points and 16 rebounds for the Orange (9-0).

Kris Joseph added 14 for Syracuse, who led wire-to-wire and out-rebounded the Spartans (6-3) 31-26.

Durrell Summers led Michigan State with 18 points. Korie Lucious was the only other Spartan in double figures with 10 points and five assists.

Syracuse led 38-29 at the half. Michigan State cut the lead to 50-47 with 12:24 to play but did not score again until 8:58 remained and Syracuse had expanded its lead to 56-47.

The Orange went on an 8-0 in the closing minutes to nail down the victory.
