Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

STORRS, Conn., Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Kemba Walker helped Connecticut get off to a quick start Wednesday and the sixth-ranked Huskies remained unbeaten with a 78-54 win over Fairleigh Dickinson.
Walker, who came into the game leading major college basketball in scoring with 29.1 points per contest, settled for 21 in helping Connecticut climb to 8-0. He made 7-of-13 shots during his 32 minutes of action.
Jeremy Lamb tacked on 12 points for the Huskies and both Shabazz Napier and Roscoe Smith had 10.
Connecticut scored 15 consecutive points to take a 25-8 lead with 9 minutes remaining in the first half.
Kamil Svrdlik had 21 points to pace the Knights (3-4). They had won their previous three games.
