Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

TEMPE, Ariz., Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Arizona Cardinals rookie quarterback Max Hall went on injured reserve Tuesday and the team signed Richard Bartel as backup insurance.
Hall, who has an ailing left shoulder, startred three of the six games he played in this year. He went 39-of-78 for 370 yards, a touchdown and six interceptions.
Bartel, 27, spent time with the UFL's Sacramento franchise this season after being cut in the pre-season by Washington where he was the No. 3 quarterback part of last season. He hasn't played in an NFL game.
Arizona has struggled to a 3-9 record.
