Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Anze Kopitar scored unassisted with 56 seconds to go in overtime Saturday, lifting Los Angeles to a 3-2 win over Detroit.
The Kings ended Detroit's four-game winning streak despite not having had the lead until Kopitar produced his overtime goal.
Jonathan Ericsson put a slap shot past Jonathan Quick late in the first period to put the Red Wings in front, but Justin Williams tied it on a tip-in 24 seconds into the middle stanza.
Detroit again took the lead on Todd Bertuzzi's fifth goal of the season only to have Alex Martinez tie it 7:18 into the second.
That was all the scoring until Kopitar delivered his 10th of the campaign against Chris Osgood.
It was the first overtime loss on the road this year for Detroit, which came into the contest with a 7-3 record away from home.
Quick made 27 saves in the victory. Osgood stopped 22-of-25 shots.
