COL FB: Oklahoma 23, Nebraska 20

ARLINGTON, Texas, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Two second-half field goals by Jimmy Stevens Saturday rallied No. 9 Oklahoma to a 23-20 win over Nebraska and the championship of the Big 12.

The Cornhuskers, which lost in the conference title game for the second year in a row, bid farewell to the Big 12 and its long-time rival Oklahoma. Nebraska will begin play next season in the Big Ten.

Nebraska took a 20-17 halftime lead, then sputtered on offense throughout the final two periods. All but two of the Cornhuskers' second-half possessions ended with a punt. They lost a fumble on one occasion and ran out of downs at their own 47 the last time they had the ball.

The game-winning field goal was of 27 yards and came with 8:28 to play in the contest.

Oklahoma fell behind 17-0 before Landry Jones threw a 49-yard touchdown pass to Kenny Stills with 11:02 left in the first half.

Stevens then kicked a field goal and Jones scored on a 1-yard run to tie it with 1:27 to go in the second period.

Alex Henery then gave Nebraska the lead at intermission by booting a 42-yarder with 6 seconds remaining. They were the last points the Cornhuskers scored.

Jones completed 23-of-40 passes for 339 yards for Oklahoma (11-2). Nebraska fell to 10-3.
