ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Amy Yang overcame an early double-bogey Saturday and clung to a one-shot lead after 54 holes at the season-ending LPGA Tour Championship.
Yang double-bogeyed the par-5 second hole and made the turn at the Grand Cypress course in 3-over-par 39. She birdied the final two holes, however, to shoot a 73 for a three-day total of 6-under 210.
Maria Hjorth shot a 71 and stood alone in second at 211. Cristie Kerr, in the running for most of the year-end honors at stake this week, moved into a tie for third place with Seon Hwa Lee at 213. Laura Diaz was fifth with a 214 total.
Jiyai Shin, the top-ranked player in female golf, was tied for 64th place. Second-ranked Suzann Pettersen was in a tie for 16th. Kerr is ranked No. 3.
Yang has never won on the LPGA Tour in a six-year career, although she was among the top 10 finishers in both the U.S. Women's Open and Women's British Open this season.
