SUN CITY, South Africa, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Lee Westwood built a five-shot lead Saturday and with one round to play at the Nedbank Challenge and was in position to retain his No. 1 world ranking.
Westwood shot a 1-under 71 at the Gary Player Country Club in Sun City, South Africa, for a 54-hole total of 13-under 203.
Tim Clark and Ross Fisher shared second place at 208 in the 12-man tournament.
Westwood recently moved past Tiger Woods into the top spot in the rankings and will stay No. 1 as long as he finishes no lower than fourth in this event. His Saturday round was highlighted by a scrambling par at the par-5 ninth after he hit his second shot into the water.
Miguel Angel Jimenez was alone in fourth at 209.
Fisher was within two shots going to the 14th hole, but he drove into a thorn bush and had to take an unplayable lie. He finished with a 1-over 73.
