ANAHEIM, Calif., Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Jimmy Howard stopped 41 shots in recording his second shutout of the season Friday, boosting the Detroit Red Wings to a 4-0 decision over Anaheim.
The Red Wings won their fourth in a row and have a 9-1-1 record in their last 11 outings.
Johan Franzen opened the scoring 1:09 into the game, Tomas Holmstrom and Daniel Cleary tallied in the second period and Valtteri Filppula produced a goal with 31 seconds left in the third.
Howard, in his fifth season with the Red Wings but only his second campaign as their regular goaltender, has five shutouts in his career.
