CHICAGO, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Taj Gibson blocked a 3-point attempt by Brad Miller just before the buzzer in overtime Saturday, preserving Chicago's 119-116 victory over Houston.
Luol Deng had a chance to ensure a victory when he went to the line with 5 seconds remaining and Chicago holding a two-point lead. He missed the first attempt, however, then hit the second one.
That gave Houston a chance to send the contest into a second extra period, but Gibson's block ended the last hope for the Rockets.
Chicago ended a two-game skid and also halted Houston's two-game winning streak.
The Bulls forced overtime when Derrick Rose hit a 3-pointer with a second remaining in the fourth period. Miller had missed a free throw moments earlier that would have given the Rockets a four-point advantage.
Rose scored 30 to lead the Bulls, Carlos Boozer had 25 and Deng scored 15. Houston got 27 from Luis Scola.
