SYRACUSE, N.Y., Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Scoop Jardine scored 23 points for No. 7 Syracuse Saturday and the Orange scored the only five points in the last 5:20 to defeat North Carolina State 65-59.
The Wolfpack could not produce another point after C.J. Leslie made 1-of-2 free throws with 5:20 remaining to bring North Carolina State within 60-59.
Syracuse did not do much better, but Baye Moussa Keita, Kris Joseph and Brandon Triche all made 1-of-2 foul shots during the closing minutes to put the Orange up by four. Dion Waiters finished things off by hitting two free throws with 5 seconds left, raising the Syracuse record to 7-0.
Jardine made only 7-of-21 shots from the field, but he converted 7-of-8 from the line. North Carolina State (4-2) was led by Scott Wood with 18.
