
WASHINGTON, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Andray Blatche scored 19 points Friday and the Washington Wizards held Portland to 10 third-quarter points in downing the Trail Blazers 83-79.
Blatche produced 10 of his points in the fourth period. Kirk Hinrich wrapped up the win by making two free throws for a six-point lead with 15 seconds to play.
Portland lost its sixth straight game. Washington had dropped its previous three outings and won for the sixth time this year.
Washington ran off 10 points in a row in the fourth period starting with a go-ahead jumper by Cartier Martin. Gilbert Arenas contributed 15 points and JaVale McGee had 13 for the Wizards.
Portland was led by Brandon Roy with 18 points and LaMarcus Aldridge had 16 along with 15 rebounds. The current losing streak is the longest for the Trail Blazers in five seasons.
