Monfils, Tipsarevic begin Davis Cup final

BELGRADE, Serbia, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- The 2010 Davis Cup final round will begin Friday in Serbia with a match between Gael Monfils of France and Serbian Janko Tipsarevic.

The men's tournament, organized by the international Tennis Federation, will begin its final in Belgrade with the best-of-five competition to be followed by a faceoff between France's Gilles Simon and Serbia's Novak Djokovic, who is ranked No. 3 in the world.

Serbia is participating in its first Davis Cup final, while a win for France would mark the country's 10th title.

Two doubles games are scheduled for Saturday, beginning with French duo Arnaud Clement and Michael Llodra versus Serbian pair Viktor Troicki and Nenad Zimonjic.

Monfils is scheduled to face off Sunday against Djokovic while Simon takes on Tipsarevic.
