NBA: New Orleans 89, Charlotte 73

NEW ORLEANS, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- David West scored 22 points Wednesday and the New Orleans Hornets ran away in the fourth quarter for an 89-73 victory over Charlotte.

The Hornets held only a three-point lead going into the final period but then outscored Charlotte 24-11 in the closing 12 minutes.

New Orleans, which had lost four of its previous five games, got 14 points and 13 rebounds from Emeka Okafor. The Hornets limited Charlotte to 40 percent shooting from the field.

The Bobcats were paced by Gerald Wallace with 18 points. They lost for the fourth time in five contests.
