Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

BUFFALO, N.Y., Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Third-period goals by Tim Connolly and Jochen Hecht Friday lifted the Buffalo Sabres to a 4-2 victory over Los Angeles.
After losing their first seven home games this season, the Sabres have captured three straight on their own ice. The Kings have lost three in a row for the first time this year.
It was a 2-2 contest heading into the final period but Connolly scored on the power play 2:10 into the stanza. Hecht increased the lead with a slapshot that zipped past Jonathan Bernier with 4:39 to play.
Ryan Miller picked up the win with 34 saves. Miller has won three of his last four starts.
Bernier, a rookie who was the 11th pick overall in the 2006 draft, gave up four goals on 26 shots.
