Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

ST. PAUL, Minn., Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Antti Miettinen scored with 1:24 remaining in overtime Wednesday to end a goaltending duel and give the Minnesota Wild a 2-1 win over Anaheim.
Anaheim goaltender Curtis McElhinney stopped a shot from Marco Scandella, but his kick save went right to Miettinen. After Miettinen's shot was also rejected, the puck deflected off Miettinen's upper body and found its way into the net.
The only goals in regulation came from Anaheim's Teemu Selanne and Minnesota's Martin Havlat during a span of 1:38 of the second period.
The win went to Niklas Backstrom, who made 27 saves and helped the Wild win for the fifth time in seven games. Anaheim has lost three in a row.
McElhinney stopped 25-of-27 shots.
