VILLANOVA, Pa., Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Maalik Wayns scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds Tuesday in seventh-ranked Villanova's 84-47 victory over Marist.

Dominic Cheek added 15 points and Maurice Sutton had 13 points and nine boards for Villanova (2-0), which posted a win in first round of the NIT Season Tip-Off.

The Wildcats also got key contributions from Mouphtaou Yarou and Corey Fisher. Both scored 10 points while Fisher also handed out seven assists.

Jay Bowie led Marist (0-1) with 14 points.
