NCAA rules two UNC players ineligible

CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Nov. 15 (UPI) -- North Carolina football players Devon Ramsay and Michael McAdoo have been ruled permanently ineligible, school officials said Monday.

The pair became the fourth and fifth members of the team to be either ruled permanently ineligible or dismissed from the program as part of an ongoing NCAA investigation.

The statement issued by UNC Athletics Director Dick Baddour indicated an appeal of the ruling will be forthcoming.

"While we respect the decision, the facts of the cases simply do not support permanent ineligibility," Baddour said. "We will aggressively appeal and are hopeful the reinstatement committee will reach the same conclusion."

Ramsey is a junior fullback who played in the Tar Heels' first four games, making two catches for 15 yards and a score, while McAdoo, a junior defensive end from Antioch, Tenn., hasn't played, The (Charlotte, N.C.) News & Observer reported.

Baddour indicated North Carolina will not be required to forfeit the two wins in which Ramsey played.
