ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Robert Garrigus stormed from five shots behind Sunday, firing an 8-under 64 to take the Children's Miracle Network Classic comfortably.
Garrigus won his first PGA Tour event, besting third-round leader Roland Thatcher by three strokes and finishing at 21-under 267 in Orlando, Fla.
Garrigus shot eight birdies in the final round at Disney's Magnolia course and perhaps earned some consolation for his epic collapse on the last hole of the St. Jude Classic in June.
Drama developed behind him on the leaderboard as Thatcher, fighting for his spot on tour, made a 5-foot par putt at the 18th hole to assure he'll have playing privileges for next season.
Spencer Levin bogeyed 18, allowing Thatcher to grab the sole possession of second place he needed to remain in the top 125 on the money list.
Levin (68) ended up sharing third place with Rickie Fowler (66) and Johnson Wagner (67) at 17-under 271.
