COL FB: Boise State 52, Idaho 14

MOSCOW, Idaho, Nov. 13 (UPI) -- Chris Potter touched off a 28-point first period with a 76-yard punt return Friday and No. 4 Boise State went on to crush Idaho 52-14.

Kellen Moore threw three touchdown passes and both Jeremy Avery and Doug Martin scored twice to keep the unbeaten Broncos in the hunt for a berth in the national championship game.

Boise State improved to 9-0 with regular-season games remaining against Fresno State, 21st-ranked Nevada and Utah State. Five of the wins have come in Western Athletic Conference action. The Broncos are fourth in the BCS standings behind Oregon, Auburn and TCU.

After Potter's punt return just 41 seconds into the game, Boise State scored in the first period on an 8-yard run by Martin, a 1-yard run by Avery and a 58-yard throw from Moore to Titus Young.

Avery caught a 17-yard touchdown pass from Moore in the second period and Martin ran 39 yards for another score in the third.

Moore completed 19-of-26 passes for 216 yards and Martin picked up 117 yards on 16 carries.

Eric Greenwood ended Boise State's bid for a shutout by catching a 17-yard pass from Nathan Enderle with 10:38 to go in the third period. The Vandals fell to 4-6 for the season and to 1-4 in conference play.
