WACO, Texas, Nov. 13 (UPI) -- Quincy Acy scored 20 points Friday and helped No. 14 Baylor build a 17-point lead in the first 8 minutes on its way to an 87-52 win over Grambling.
The Bears completed a sweep for the 16 nationally-ranked teams that completed on the first big night of college basketball -- and all of those teams coming away with a win. The closest call was a three-point win by No. 21 Georgetown over Old Dominion.
Acy made 7-of-11 shots from the field as part of a 52-percent shooting performance by the Bears, who opened their season without star guard LaceDarius Dunn. The school announced Friday that Dunn would serve a three-game suspension for violating team rules.
Dunn was arrested last month for allegedly hitting his girlfriend and breaking her jaw. Dunn has denied the allegation and his girlfriend has not filed a complaint with police.
Anthony Jones added 17 points for the Bears, who had a 41-25 halftime lead. Baylor reached the regional finals of the NCAA Tournament last year before losing to eventual champion Duke.
The Tigers were led by Brandon Wilson with 18 points.
