Trio leads golf's Singapore Open

SINGAPORE, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Kim Bi-o, Chris Wood and Ignacio Garrido are each 8-under-par and leading after Thursday's play at the European Tour's Barclays Singapore Open.

Scores were low at the Sentosa Golf Club where the tournament is being contested on two par-71 courses, with more than half of the field of 204 under par. However, heavy rain caused delays and play was called because of darkness with more than half the players unable to finish their first round.

Garrido was one of those on the course when play was stopped. He had eight birdies through his first 11 holes and will be on No. 12 when the round resumes Friday. Rikard Karlberg's round also was shortened. He is 7-under after 15 holes and tied for fourth with Shigeki Maruyama, who finished his round with a 64.

Wood's round at the Tanjong course featured two sets of three consecutive birdies and an eagle on the par-5, 514-yard sixth hole. Kim, playing in the same group as Wood, scattered eight birdies across his scorecard and was 5-under on the second nine.
