NHL: Columbus 8, St. Louis 1

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Jakub Voracek scored two of the first four Columbus goals Wednesday and the Blue Jackets ended a seven-game St. Louis winning streak with an 8-1 victory.

The winning streak had been the longest for St. Louis in eight seasons. The Blues lost in regulation for just the second time in 13 games this year.

Columbus had scored no more than three goals in any of its last 13 contests and easily bested its previous high goal total of five, which came in the season-opener against Atlanta.

Voracek opened the scoring 6:49 into the first and he gave Columbus a 4-0 lead 3:46 into the second.

Derick Brassard did not score for the Blue Jackets, but he had three assists. Steve Mason stopped 27-of-28 shots to get the victory.

Jaroslav Halak, with three shutouts this season and wins in his six previous starts, was driven from the game after giving up four goals on 15 shots. Ty Conklin allowed four additional goals on 21 shots.
