AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Jordan Hamilton scored 19 points Wednesday and No. 25 Texas broke things open early in the second half for an 89-58 victory over Louisiana Tech.

The Longhorns have begun their season at 2-0 with the help of highly recruited freshman Tristan Thompson. He scored 17 points and had seven rebounds. Gary Johns added 15 for Texas, which scored the first 11 points of the second half to take a 50-24 lead.

Louisiana Tech (0-1) was led by Brandon Gibson with 16 points.
