DETROIT, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Henrik Zetterberg scored on a deflection 1:23 into overtime Monday, powering the Detroit Red Wings to a 3-2 decision over Phoenix.
With Zetterberg camped just outside the crease, Ruslan Salei unleashed a slapshot from the left point. Zetterberg got a stick on it, tipping it past Ilya Bryzgalov to hand the Red Wings a win in the first contest of a season-high six-game homestand.
Nicklas Lidstrom scored on a slapshot 7:24 into the final period to forge a 2-2 tie and Dan Cleary got the other goal for Detroit, which raised its record to 9-3-1 with the win.
Red Wings netminder Jimmy Howard made 29 saves on 31 shots, improving his record to 7-1-1.
Martin Hanzal and Keith Yandle found the net for the Coyotes and Bryzgalov turned aside 37 shots in the loss.
