NHL: Los Angeles 4, Nashville 1

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown scored in the first period Saturday and the Los Angeles Kings cruised to a 4-1 win over Nashville.

The pair also contributed one assist apiece in Los Angeles' sixth straight home win to start the season. The last time Kings accomplished that was in 1980-81 when they went 7-0 at home to begin the year.

Ryan Smyth -- playing in his 1,000th NHL game -- and Jarret Stoll also scored and Jonathan Bernier made 25 saves for Los Angeles.

The Predators got their lone goal from Shane O'Brien in absorbing their fourth straight loss.

Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne stopped 18-of-22 shots before being lifted for Anders Lindback, who finished up the game with nine saves.
