Rogers was the No. 7 overall pick in the 1987 NFL draft, taken by Detroit. He played briefly with the Lions, Buffalo and Tampa Bay.

His first DUI occurred while he was at the University of Washington. He also was drunk when he crashed his car in 1988, killing three teenagers. His fifth DUI was in November 2008, when he hit another driver on an interstate the day before Thanksgiving and fled the scene. He was sentenced to two years in prison on that one.

Rogers is the younger brother of former Cleveland Browns safety Don Rogers, who died of a cocaine-induced heart attack at age 23 in 1986.
