SHANGHAI, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Francesco Molinari, fueled by an eagle Saturday, retained his 1-stroke lead over Lee Westwood at the PGA's WGC-HSBC Champions event in Shanghai.
Molinari has led the tournament by one stroke at the end of each round with Westwood, who took over the world No. 1 ranking this week, in second after each day's play.
Saturday they shot matching 5-under-par 65s, putting Molinari at 14-under 202 after 54 holes and Westwood at 13-under. Molinari kept the lead with an eagle, five birdies and two bogeys while Westwood fired a bogey-free third round.
Luke Donald had a 4-under 68 Saturday and is alone in third place at 10-under. Ernie Els (71 Saturday), Ross Fisher (69) and Richie Ramsey (71) are tied for fourth at 8-under.
Molinari opened with a birdie but had a bogey at No. 4 -- a hole he birdied each of the first two rounds. He immediately got that stroke back at the fifth hole and improved to 3-under on the day with birdies at 8 and 10.
He had a bogey at 12 but answered that with an eagle at 13 by holing out from the fairway and closed with a final-hole birdie.
