Federer, Djokovic set up rematch in Basel

BASEL, Switzerland, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Local hero Roger Federer will meet U.S. Open runner-up Novak Djokovic for the Swiss Indoors title after both won semifinal matchups Saturday.

The top-seeded Federer delighted the fans in his hometown of Basel, Switzerland, by dispatching American Andy Roddick 6-2, 6-4, while No. 2 seed Djokovic moved on with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 decision over fellow Serb Viktor Troicki.

Federer broke Roddick's serve on two occasions en route to an easy first-set win. Roddick took a 2-0 lead in the second set but Federer rallied, breaking the American twice more to improve to 20-2 lifetime against Roddick.

Djokovic, meanwhile, won five straight points to force a first-set tie-breaker with Troicki, which he easily won. He broke Troicki's serve in the seventh game of the second set and held on from there to win the match.

Federer has taken 11 of his 18 career matches with Djokovic, including semifinal wins in Toronto and Shanghai this year. The pair have split four previous title matches.

Djokovic defeated Federer in the 2009 Swiss Indoors final. Federer won three consecutive titles from 2006 to 2008.
