COL FB: Alabama 24, LSU 21

BATON ROUGE, La., Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Stevan Ridley capped a 73-yard, third-quarter drive with a go-ahead TD and No. 11 Louisiana State went on to upend sixth-ranked Alabama 24-21.

Ridley rushed for 88 yards and 24 carries and Jordan Jefferson went 10-of-13 for 141 yards and a touchdown for the Tigers, who didn't let their first loss of the year last week carry over into Saturday's key SEC contest.

The win allowed LSU (8-1, 5-1 SEC) to move into second place in the conference, one game behind West Division-leading Auburn, which handed LSU its only loss two weeks ago.

Alternate quarterback Jarrett Lee made a key play in the fourth quarter to find Ruben Randle on a long pass, enabling the Tigers to add an insurance field goal.

Meanwhile, the Crimson Tide (7-2, 4-2) likely saw their national title hopes evaporate with the loss.

Greg McElroy threw for 223 yards on 21-of-34 efficiency with two touchdowns and an interception but made a key fumble during a sack late in the game.
