SUNRISE, Fla., Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Stephen Weiss
had two goals and an assist as part of an offensive outburst Friday that gave the Florida Panthers a 7-4 victory over Carolina.
The teams combined for 80 shots, 49 of them coming from Florida.
Weiss scored his first goal during a wild opening period that ended in a 3-3 deadlock. He scored again into an empty net with 49 seconds remaining after Florida had dominated the final two periods.
David Booth, Michael Frolik and Marty Reasoner all had a goal and an assist and Scott Clemmensen came on in relief of Tomas Vokoun in goal to get the win.
Vokoun gave up two goals on seven shots and Clemmensen made 22 saves the rest of the way.
Cam Ward gave up six of the seven goals in defeat. The Hurricanes had more than 10 minutes with the man advantage and could not score a power-play goal.
