NHL: Philadelphia 3, Carolina 2

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Scott Hartnell scored twice and Jeff Carter added two assists Monday in the Philadelphia Flyers' 3-2 decision over Carolina.

Hartnell got the game's first goal 12:29 into the contest on assists from Carter and Ville Leino. He scored 6 minutes into the third period to make it 3-1 on helpers from Carter and Kimmo Timonen.

Pat Dwyer scored a goal and Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 26-of-28 shots for the Flyers, who notched their fourth consecutive win and seventh straight over the Hurricanes.

Joe Corvo got his first goal of the season with 27 seconds left in the game, bringing Carolina to within one, but the Hurricanes couldn't come up with the equalizer.

Claude Giroux got Carolina's other score and Justin Peters stopped 34-of-37 shots in the setback.
