McDowell, Maybin share Andalucia lead

SOTOGRANDE, Spain, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Graeme McDowell blew a lead with a double-bogey on the 18th hole Saturday, falling into a tie with Gareth Maybin after three rounds of the Andalucia Masters.

The late fumble gave McDowell, who held the lead after 36 holes, a round of 1-over 72. He ended the day tied with Maybin (70) at 6-under 207 at Club de Golf Valderrama.

Saturday's finish sets up a final-round showdown between McDowell and Maybin. McDowell, winner of this year's U.S. Open, will be seeking his seventh European Tour victory of the year, while Maybin will be going for this first tour victory.

The pair held a four-shot lead over Irishman Damien McGrane (70) and Miguel Angel Jimenez (71), who were knotted in third place at minus-2.

Sergio Garcia (69) and Thomas Bjorn (71) were one shot further back at 1-under 212.
