FRISCO, Texas, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Substitute Eric Avila fired the ball past Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando in the 88th minute Saturday, delivering FC Dallas a 2-1 playoff win.

Fabian Espindola had put Real Salt Lake, the defending Major League Soccer champions, up 1-0 5 minutes into the first leg of the Western Conference semifinal match.

Jeff Cunningham, subbing for injured Milton Rodriguez, tied it up for Dallas with a goal shortly before halftime.

The series moves to Utah next Saturday.
