COL FB: South Carolina 38, Tennessee 24

COLUMBIA, S.C., Oct. 30 (UPI) -- A 70-yard touchdown catch by Alshon Jeffery broke a fourth-quarter tie and sent No. South Carolina on to a 38-24 win over visiting Tennessee.

Gamecocks quarterback Stephen Garcia was 13-of-22 passing for 223 yards and also ran in a late touchdown from 1 yard out to close out the scoring after connecting with Jeffery earlier in the period.

Marcus Lattimore returned to the South Carolina (6-2, 4-2 SEC) backfield after missing a week with an ankle injury. The freshman carried the ball 29 times for 184 yards, including a 1-yard TD run in the second quarter that put South Carolina ahead 10-3.

Tyler Bray threw for 159 yards and two touchdowns for the Volunteers (2-6, 0-5), who lost their fourth consecutive game. Matt Simms saw action in the game as well, completing 10-of-13 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown pass to Luke Stocker in the second quarter.
