ATLANTA, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Dustin Byfuglien produced an end-to-end rush before scoring with 29 seconds left in overtime Friday, delivering Atlanta a 4-3 win over Buffalo.
The Thrashers surrendered a goal to Derek Roy with 7.3 seconds left in regulation to bring about the overtime period, but Byfuglien's sensational effort allowed Atlanta to escape with two points.
Byfuglien stick-handled the puck around Buffalo defenseman Steve Montador before he put a wrist shot past Ryan Miller on the glove side.
Atlanta won its second straight and Buffalo has dropped two in a row.
The Thrashers trailed 2-0 after one period, but tied it in the second on goals from Nik Antropov and Alexander Burmistrov. Antropov's goal came with Atlanta owning a two-man advantage.
Niclas Bergfors scored 50 seconds into the third to put Atlanta in front and it remained a 3-2 game until Roy's late goal.
Chris Mason made 25 saves in the victory. Miller stopped 18 shots.
