EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Minnesota quarterback Brett Favre was able to practice Friday despite broken bones in his left ankle, but his availability for Sunday's game is still unknown.

Favre was injured in last Sunday's game and subsequent examinations determined he had two fractures in his left ankle. He was fitted with a walking cast and hadn't worked out with the team until Friday.

Favre has started an NFL record 291 consecutive games. If that streak ends Sunday, Vikings Coach Brad Childress is expected to go with Tarvaris Jackson at quarterback.

Minnesota is 2-4 this season heading into Sunday's game at 5-1 New England.

Favre has completed 59.1 percent of his passes this season with 1,191 yards and seven touchdowns. He's also been intercepted 10 times.
